“ONE OF 2009′S BEST NEW AUSTIN BANDS.” -Austin Chronicle
The Tiny Tin Hearts are an eight-piece group blending Americana, Pop, Rock, Folk, Country, Bluegrass and Classical music into a unique sound. Led by songwriter Seth Osborn, The Tiny Tin Hearts feature trombone, French horn, cello and violin together with banjo, keys, guitar/lap steel, bass and drums.
Osborn began assembling the band in late 2006 using the Austin craigslist. It took more than a year to find the right musicians, arrange the songs and rehearse for their first gig at Austin’s landmark club Emo’s in January 2008.
Since their premiere The Tiny Tin Hearts have played scores of shows in many of Austin’s finest venues such as Antone’s, the historic Victory Grill, Momo’s and the Saxon Pub, and a showcase at the 2009 South by Southwest Music Festival. They played the 2009 Austin Chronicle Hot Sauce Festival, and made their television debut with a live performance on KTBC’s Good Day Austin on 9/25/2009 (http://bit.ly/Q5oMp). They have also played well-received shows in Dallas, Houston and San Antonio.
In September 2009 The Tiny Tin Hearts released their debut CD Last Flight of the Martyr Aviator. Produced by George Reiff (Ian McLagan) and recorded by Grammy-winning engineer Steve Christensen, the album is available on iTunes (http://bit.ly/6JkHCx ) and Amazon.com (http://bit.ly/6wyiXw ). Recordings from the album won the Austin Chronicle’s first-ever Soundwars online battle of the bands in the summer of 2009 (from a field of 152 entrants), and their song “Small Catastrophe” was featured as KUT-FM’s Song of the Day on 9/2/2009 (http://bit.ly/1qrjIR ).
The band has attracted media attention from Austin and beyond. Tracks from the CD were included in Indie Music Café’s review of the best indie releases nationwide of 2009 ( http://bit.ly/5HgP4a ). Austin Sound’s Samm Newton wrote, “[T]he little known band who had just blown my mind…gave me faith once again that there is still exciting, stimulating music being made within the [Austin] city limits.” The Tiny Tin Hearts werefeatured on the front page of the Life and Arts section of the Austin American-Statesman on 9/21/2009 ( http://bit.ly/zMSvk ).
